So here is a quick mini review of Super Metriod Well here we go a quickie Super Metroid review.

Graphics 8/10: For it's time Super Metroid set an example on what kind of graphics the super nintendo, and even to this day the game is really good looking. Interesting environments, with a mostly unique aesthetic in general for most areas of the world. Now this did get much better in later games like Fusion. Levels of shading, good detail, somewhat background storytelling with it's area design at times. Which is why it's a pain to recreate, at least one of the reasons, the other reason which I will touch up on in the gameplay section and why the game lost a FEW points.

Sound and Music 7/10: Now while the game has unique sounds and goes to the trouble to give monster unique squeaks and roars, along with weapons having firing sound, all of which are good. I REALLY can't remember much in the way of music and tunes, other then the music when trying to escape the timed explosives, the item got sound, and a few small tunes. But in the way of MUSIC, I think the game can be seriously lacking as I never really remember anything that stands out through the game.

Controls 8/10: In general controls are amazing, and mostly never have an issue except for those damn hyper run jumps. But I will say with many of the improvements that ones like Fusion or axiom verge did, it is hard to go back and play this and it does feel archaic.

Gameplay 7/10: I do love Super Metroid and Metroidvania games, I find I am MUCH more for the VANIA side of it then the metroid side of it. As Yahztee from Zero Punctuation put it, the vania side is more about the leveling, the story, the loot, and the metroid is about backtracking in dull, claustrophobic ugly environments with a mess of pixels which make it hard to find anything. As with that the other issue is the game really has no replay value. No reason to play it again after you get 100%, other then the 3 hour special thing, but you can find better on the internet.

Overall 7.5/10: Super Metroid and was an amazing game, but had it's issues compared to those of today, but it is still a must play for anyone really.
